Name: Admiral William “Husker” Adama
Age: 60
Physical Appearance: short-medium height (more on the short side), but reasonably well built. Short, slightly wavy ‘salt and pepper’ hair, with somewhat craggy features (he likes to joke that the sculptor slipped a few times) and blue eyes. Wears glasses.
Education: not specifically stated, but presumably completed high school, before enlisting in the Colonial Fleet and going on to flight training as a pilot. He is qualified to fly both Raptors and Vipers.
Occupation: Commanding Officer of the battlestar Galactica, Rear Admiral and highest ranking officer in the Colonial Fleet.
Significant Other: was married to Carolanne, but they subsequently divorced (due to his commitments to the Colonial Fleet, moving from base to base, hardly at home). She is believed to have perished in the Cylon attack. Has very strong feelings for President of the Colonies Laura Roslin, which he seems to be acting on now they have both ended up in Canada.

BIOGRAPHY William Adama is the son of Joseph Adama (a well known, notorious lawyer specialising in civil liberties and criminal defense) and Evelyn Adama (an accountant). He also had an older sister Tamara, but she along with his mother were killed in a suicide bombing when he was a child.

Still in school when the Cylon War started, he originally wanted to be a lawyer like his father, but soon was attracted to the idea of becoming a pilot. He completed flight training, and his first assignment was to none other than the Galactica. Apparently, he got his call sign ‘Husker’ on account of his ‘graveled’ voice. Adama proved to be a gifted pilot – shooting down his first Cylon on his very first combat mission (which he received a commendation for).

When the war ended, Adama was discharged from the fleet, and ended up working worked as a deck hand on a commercial freighter. It was there that he met fellow ex-Viper pilot Saul Tigh, who was to become a close and long-time friend. Adama married Carolanne (whose family had political influence), and managed to get himself reinstated to the Colonial Fleet. He also arranged to have Tigh reinstated several years later.

William and Carolanne had two sons – Lee and Zak – before the marriage slowly disintegrated due to the amount of time Adama spent away from home. The two eventually divorced.

Both Lee and Zak chose to follow their father and become Viper pilots. Unfortunately, during an operational flight, Zak’s viper crashed and he was killed. This soured the relationship between Adama and Lee – who blamed his father for pushing Zak into military service when he really was not suitable. At the same time (at Zak’s funeral, in fact), Adama met Kara ‘Starbuck’ Thrace, who was Zak’s flight instructor (and also in a secret relationship with him), and a father-daughter relationship was sparked between the two.

Adama moved up through the ranks of the peacetime fleet, becoming XO of the Columbia, before getting command of the Valkyrie. Some time later, he was given command of Galactica. Both ship and commander were nearing the end of their service – Galactica destined to be decommissioned and converted into a museum ship. Of course, the Cylon attack and destruction of the Twelve Colonies soon put an end to that. The ship (and her commander) soon found themselves back in service, as they met up with a civilian fleet of survivors (including the new President of the Colonies Laura Roslin), which they lead to safety. Their destination? What is known as the ‘Thirteenth Colony’ – Earth.

The road to Earth is not a simple one – there are many twists and turns along the way. Shootings, marriages, deaths, promotions, and of course, Cylons. (For a better summary, see: http://en.battlestarwiki.org/wiki/William_Adama).

The latest plot twist centred around the disappearance of Kara over a gas giant planet. She was chasing what she claimed was a Cylon heavy raider, when her Viper exploded. Lee was out there with her, and while poking around the wreckage in his own Viper, he thought he caught a glimpse of her, and went to investigate (despite Adama’s own misgivings). When Lee disappeared (with no trace of himself or his Viper this time), Adama had enough. Against the pleas of both Tigh and Laura Roslin to let others continue the search, he suited up, got in his old Viper, and went out there to look for his son (and Kara, if by any chance she might still be alive somewhere).

He carefully retraced the steps taken by Lee’s Viper (with assistance from Galactica), and it was at his son’s last known co-ordinates, that Admiral William Adama also disappeared without a trace.

And found himself circling above Aternaville, Canada.

QUICK FACTSPersonality in seven words or less: tough, fair, strong, loyal, stubborn, determined, passionate.
How Others Perceive Your Character: to put it colourfully, one tough son of a bitch. But fair, loyal, and willing to listen to and take advice from others. There’s a reason why he’s known as the “Old Man” amongst the crew – he is considered to be quite approachable, and is held in high regard.
Beliefs, Convictions, Morals: Adama could be described as an atheist – as he doesn’t appear to share in the majority of Colonial religious beliefs, and seems to deny the existence of the gods. However, he also seems to accept that the scripture of said gods may have relevance to the search for Earth. He places a strong value of loyalty to those he regards as family and friends – trust and promises are very important to him (perhaps too strong, some might say), and is a little mistrustful of politicians, and reporters.
Reason(s) for Escaping to Canada: He didn’t escape to Canada - he was searching an area of space for Lee and Starbuck after they mysteriously disappeared, and the next thing he knew…well, here he was.
Their DHAs [Dreams, Hopes, and Aspirations] for Canada: to find out whether this is really Earth, find exact location and co-ordinates, and return to the fleet, in order to lead them back here. Eventually. In the mean time, a job and a place to stay might be useful.

5. Favorite Film: no idea (would they even have a cinema in the fleet somewhere?). He prefers to read books. But knowing his tastes in said books, he’d probably watch something mystery related.

ANYTHING NON-CANON?~~Nothing much, except for the fact that as Adama is from just after the events of Maelstrom (and before The Son Also Rises), everything after that hasn’t happened yet.~~

Adama got a 'canon update', and is now from sometime after the events in the Daybreak finale, where he has been living in a cabin with his son Lee. He arrived back in Canada after he died - though he isn't aware of this fact yet.
